Staten Island High Launches Website

New Dorp High School on Staten Island has launched the first fully interactive web-based communications system for a New York City public high school.

“We believe that New Dorp High School is the first public high school in the nation to operate its own fully interactive website. The site has the same features found on websites built and maintained by many of America’s most prestigious colleges and universities,” said Charles Slepian, the chair and CFO of Educational Networks, the company that developed the site.

The New Dorp website provides students, parents and school staff with a communication system featuring most aspects of school life. The technology gives each member of the school community access to the site, which provides password secured access with multiple levels of authorization for teachers and administrators.

“When students or their parents, teachers and administrators can’t be at school, school will come to them. It’s a great example of how technology can unite an entire high school community and make it stronger,” said New Dorp principal Deirdre DeAngelis.
