The
Chess Forum Goes Back-to-School
by
Mitchell Levine
The
Chess Forum on Thompson Street has become a New York City chess
institution. Since 1995, the combined club, café , store, and
now school, has always focused on young players and education.
Now that back-to-school time is here, the store also sponsors
monthly tournaments for students in the New York and New Jersey
schools, in conjunction with NYChessKids. Schedules for the competitions
can be found at www.nychesskids.com. Onsite, International Master
Sheldon Rabovitch instructs youth in the game at reasonable rates.
As a special promotion, The Chess Forum will provide a 20% discount
on all merchandise until Thanksgiving for current students with
valid student ID. For more information, contact the club toll-free
at 1-800-393-4330, or log on-line at www.chessforum.com.
